Therapy Camps

Our Family therapeutic respite camps are genuinely unique. A group of families come away and are supported in a lovely setting by an experienced therapy team.

We provide care and nurture, therapy support and lots of family activities. The aim is to help everyone to feel safe and relaxed and to provide highly supported opportunities to connect.

Parents and carers get a genuine break and the children and young people have fun and new experiences.

Theraplay Camp

Our Theraplay Camp runs over three days, two nights, at a glamping site/activity centre and working farm in Herefordshire (Drovers Rest).

Families undergo intensive therapy, including parent-child TheraplayⓇ sessions, parent only sessions and whole group sessions, art and play therapy. We facilitate a range of therapeutic activities, including pizza making, farm walks and farm-animal feeding, communal lunches, drumming, den building, BBQs, camp fires, arts and crafts, and Forest School activities.

The camp has space for seven families (12-18 children and 14 parents/carers, depending on the specific families involved). All families stay in wonderful safari tent accommodation onsite. All family accommodation, food and activities are included.

A highly qualified therapeutic staff team, led by a consultant clinical psychologist, runs the whole camp, including evenings and sleeping over.

Jamie’s Farm Therapy Camp

Our Jamie’s Farm therapy family camp is designed for secondary aged young people to attend with their parents and carers and runs over five days, four nights at a specialist therapeutic working farm Jamie’s Farm. Six families (maximum 12 people) will be staying in the large and very comfortable farmhouse in family groups.

The young people are supported to try a range of activities, supported by the Jamie’s Farm team and The Family Place practitioners. There is a lot of outdoor time, work with animals and opportunities to work together in different groups.

DDP therapy sessions for the young people and their parents/carers are woven into the programme alongside group work to build relationships and confidence. There is support for parents and carers to relax and unwind and to receive therapeutic input themselves.
