Jael is an experienced Consultant Clinical Psychologist with over 22 years’ experience.

Jael specialises in working with children and families in mental health services provided by the NHS, Social Care and Voluntary Organisations. She worked as the Clinical Director of a specialist mental health service for children who are looked after or adopted and who have complex mental health and social needs, being with this service for 18 years. In this role she liaised very closely with families, social care teams, schools and NHS colleagues providing physical health care.

Jael is also a Systemic Family Therapist registered with the UKCP. She is trained and experienced in using a wide range of psychological models including DDP, NVR, EMDR, CBT, DBT, ACT and Theraplay. Her main ways of understanding children and families are drawn from knowledge of child development, attachment, developmental trauma, humanistic and systemic relational theories.

Jael works with The Family Place on a sessional basis alongside her work in the NHS. Jael lives in South Wales with her family and loves to walk in the mountains and along the coastal paths of beautiful Wales.
